(Asclepias viridis) Perennial. A great Spring flowering milkweed variety to support migrating Monarch Butterflies and other beneficial insects. Greenish white flowers with rosy to purple centers grow in a beautiful umbellate cluster. Large 3-5” curved green seed pods follow flowering period and break open to release seeds covered in white silky fibers. Spider milkweed is naturally found along roadsides and prairies. It is heat and drought tolerant and adaptable to many soil types.
