(Cleome surrulata) Annual. Native. This showy pink to rose pink fragrant bloom and long drooping seed pods will be sure to attract pollinators to your landscape. With a long bloom period and great drought resistance, this variety is perfect for a low maintenance landscape. It has been a source of food, dye, and medicine for Native American tribes and was one of the many species collected during the Lewis and Clark Expedition in 1804.
Also known as Wild Cleome and Bee Spider Weed.
TO GROW:
Direct seed in late fall or start indoors in spring by sowing seeds on top of moistened seed starting mix and place it in the refrigerator for 3-4 weeks, then sow outdoors after frost. Press seeds into the soil but do not cover them with soil because they need light to germinate. Germination can be slow and naturally irregular. Keep moist until established.
