(Saponaria ocymoides) Perennial. This stunning wildflower bursts into a carpet of charming pink blooms that make a beautiful ground cover. Extremely easy to grow, this perennial is tolerant of all kinds of soils, naturalizes easily and is ideal as a groundcover, edging plant, or container plant. Roots can be used to make soap. Highly attractive to bees.
To Grow:
Sow outside in late fall or started indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost. Press seeds into the soil but do not cover them as they need light to germinate. Keep seedlings lightly moist, and transplant them as soon as they have developed several leaves.
