(Lunaria annua) Biennial. Money plant is typical grown for its disk-like seedpods that resemble silvery white coins when dried. Very popular in floral arrangements. Its fragrant purple flowers bloom in spring attracting butterflies and bees. Flowers also make a sweet cut flower.
Also known as Lunaria and Honesty. Plants will produce leaves the first year then flowers and seed pods the second year. Money Plant reseeds heavily, returning year after year. To dry seed pods, hang cut stems after fully developed until completely dry then remove brown husks of seed pod by gently rubbing with fingers.
To Grow:
Direct sow outdoors in fall or spring after your last frost date in prepared seedbed. Press into soil but do not cover as seeds needs light to germinate.
