(Aquilegia canadensis) Perennial. Native and early blooming. Showy red and yellow bell-shaped flowers with upward spurring hooks attract pollinators and hummingbirds from Spring to Summer. When out of bloom period, it’s semi-evergreen leaves add attraction all season long. Plants easily self-seed to create compact colonies, ideal for cottage and shade gardens.
TO GROW:
Sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before your last average frost date. Press them into the soil but do not cover them with soil because they need light to germinate. Transplant seedlings outdoors as soon as the soil can be worked. Direct seed after last frost. Water until established.
