Cardinal Flower (Lobelia cardinalis) - 100 Seeds
Native perennial. This native perennial wildflower is a must have for attracting hummingbirds and butterflies. Vibrant red flowers grow up along the 2-4' tall stalk and bloom from late summer to early fall. Cardinal Flower flourishes near water features and makes an eye-catching addition to a rain garden. Perfect for hummingbird gardens.
To Grow:
Direct sow in early fall, press seed into soil of well-prepared seed bed but do not cover as it needs light to germinate. Cold stratified seeds can also be started indoors under lights 6-8 weeks before last frost. To cold stratify, mix seeds with moistened seed starting mix or sand and place it in the refrigerator for 8 weeks, then press seeds into the soil but do not cover them with soil because they need light to germinate. Transplant seedlings outdoors after last frost. Water regularly.
